The Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino remembers Ilio Raffaelli, who was mayor of Montalcino for 20 years.

(Montalcino - SI, June 12th 2023). “If Brunello di Montalcino is a brand known worldwide, it is thanks to Ilio Raffaelli, a cultured and pragmatic man with a forward-looking vision. When he was mayor – from 1960 to 1980, the most popular among people from Montalcino -, Raffaelli always supported producers for a project of development of Montalcino, based on quality and sustainable agriculture”. Fabrizio Bindocci, president of the Consortium of Brunello di Montalcino, remembers Ilio Raffaelli, who passed away at the age of 96 yesterday. “The denomination – Bindocci states – is deeply grateful to him and it will continue to move forward, following his vision always focused on the promotion of the territory , with Brunello as an ambassador of a way of living and doing business”.
In 2020, Ilio Raffaelli was awarded the Premio Speciale Leccio d’Oro of the Consortium “For his activity of promotion of tourism and the culture of Brunello”.
