Giacomo Pondini Appointed New Director of

Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino

Since 2004 at the head of Consorzio del Morellino di Scansano, he will take office in January 2016

Giacomo Pondini, aged 40, will be the new Director of Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino as from the 1st of January. Since 2004, he has held a similar position at Consorzio del Morellino di Scansano.

Following his educational activities, strongly focussed on the international scenario (degree in Political Science specialising in International Relations obtained from the University of Siena, and Master’s degree in Diplomatic Careers and International Organisations awarded by the University of Parma), and an appointment in the Commercial Department of the Italian Embassy of Namibia in the early 2000’s, Pondini entered the world of oenogastronomy, working at wine-making estates in the Chianti area, and then at Consorzio del Morellino.

Giacomo Pondini takes over from Giampiero Pazzaglia, who has headed the Montalcino consortium for over two years and, as of January, will hold the office of General Manager within the ColleMassari Group.

In welcoming the new Director, the Chairman of Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino Fabrizio Bindocci emphasises that “the appointment of Pondini, the choice of his skills and expertise, is part of a development project whereby the Consortium is ever more committed to support local wine-making estates in developing and consolidating their position on the international market. An increasingly strategic role that goes beyond basic protection activities, to assert itself as the driving force behind the growth of the entire territorial system. For these reasons I would like to express my appreciation to Giampiero Pazzaglia who, in recent years, has contributed to the renewal of our structure and to overcoming the problems raised by the economic situation. The credit for our achievements also goes to him, as he has made great efforts for our designation. I wish Giampiero every success in his new endeavours and thank him publicly for all he has done for us”.
